According to a legend , there was a demon named Tarakasura . Hearing this , the demon Tarakasura became very disappointed , and then very cleverly he again asked Brahma ji for a boon that he would die only at the hands of Lord Shiva ’ s son . Then all the afflicted people went to Lord Shiva and prayed to free them from the atrocities of Tarakasura .
